Visiting The S.A.F.E. Centre: A Hub of Community Support

Recently, I had the pleasure of visiting The Southern Adelaide Family Enrichment Centre (S.A.F.E. Centre) at Christies Beach, a remarkable community initiative by the Christies Beach Baptist Church. This centre offers a range of services designed to support and enrich our local community.

The S.A.F.E Centre is a play cafe alongside an Emergency Relief service, with laundry and shower facilities for families doing it tough. Entry to the playground costs $5 (and a coffee is only $5.50!)

All cafe profits go back into the many services the centre provides.

The centre boasts a sensory space that enhances its commitment to inclusivity and accessibility. This addition ensures that individuals of all abilities can benefit from the supportive environment the S.A.F.E. Centre provides.

During my visit, I was greeted by the warmth and dedication of Julie and Daniel Gardner, along with the entire team at Christies Beach Baptist Church. Their passion for creating a space that fosters inclusion, safety, and belonging is truly commendable. The S.A.F.E. Centre stands as a testament to what can be achieved when a community comes together with a shared vision of support and enrichment.

I encourage everyone in the community to visit The S.A.F.E. Centre, enjoy a coffee, let the kids play, and experience firsthand the positive impact this centre is making in our area.

It’s initiatives like these that strengthen the fabric of our community and provide invaluable support to those in need.
